The Makarska Riviera stretches for 60km, between the towns of Brela and Gradac, with the main town being, of course, Makarska. The Riviera is one of the most famous tourist locations along the Croatian coast and is also one of the most beautiful with countless pebble beaches, pine trees, sparkling water and peaceful bays. The area is also known for Biokovo Mountain, which overlooks the coastal area.

(To the left is Makarska a view from the boat in main marina.) The population of the town, loomed over by Biokovo Mountain, is just under 12,000. The town was a Roman settlement and was just on the edge of the Roman Empire and, at different times, was under the rule of both the Turks and the Venetians. |
One of the main historical attractions in Makarska is St. Marks Chruch, built in 1756. Inside the church, on the right the remains of St. Klement, the patron of Makarska are kept. (To the left is the St Mark's Church in Makarska, a view from main town Square, Kacicev Trg) |

The nature has blessed Makarska with many of the beautiful beaches and a marina. The pine trees stretch almost to the water edge providing the needed shade from the summer sun. The pristine beaches are covered with the soft, round, white pebbles providing the pleasant experience to the beach goers. There is a range of the beaches from the large main beach to the small private beaches nested between the rocks, accessible |
via the short walk or taking the mini tourist train service available along the beachside walkway at
dedicated times. The Nudist beaches are also available to the public.

| There are two marinas available to tourists wishing to have their boats near by. One is in front of Hotel Dalmacija, less than 1 minute walk from Apartmani Makarska, and the second one is in the town centre. | ![]() |
